Expromptivism
Improvisational drawings and originals
Expromptivism began as a habit of beginning. I would sit with a sheet, a single pencil or pen, and let the first mark decide everything that followed. When people leaned in and asked "What will you draw?" The honest reply was always "I do not know" because the point was the act of drawing itself. Each line was a decision made in the present, each blot and hesitation a record of attention given without plan.
These drawings and paintings keep the hand visible. Together the pieces are less about illustration and more about trust — trust in the impulse, trust in the way the hand tells the eye what to see.
Expromptivism is for collectors who favor the thrill of the first mark and for rooms that want art with a lived in immediacy. These works wear their making proudly and reward repeated looking. They are practice turned into objects, improvisation turned into presence.
